Question: How long did the film take to complete?

Dominique Derrenger: The project was originally slated as a ten-day shoot with a month of post-production. It ended up taking three full years to complete. I was passionate enough about the subject to spend my own time and money documenting it. Though had I known going in that it would end up costing me so much of both to finish, I might have felt more daunted at the outset. But now, looking back, I'm glad that I got a solid jump on the story, and that things panned out the way they did. I think one of the toughest questions to answer during any creative process is when to put your pencils (or in this case cameras) down. That feeling didn't come to for me until the conclusion of the second year. The third year was focused primarily on post-production, which we were able to do on a full-time basis thanks to some significant outside support.
